Hundreds of years ago, monks near the town of Taggia on the west coast of Liguria near the border with the French Riviera and Provence, cultivated this wonderful olive variety. This very small unique area with its steep sun-kissed slopes and the special warm but also cool breeze of the Mediterranean sea has produced an olive oil which, with its mild fruity flavor, is considered one of the best in the world

Only this small area with its olives which accounts for just 1% of the total Italian olive cultivation area, may carry this protected name Taggiasca on the bottle as it must consist of 100% monoculture Taggiasca olives.These rare olives and olive oil are appreciated and used in the kitchens of the best restaurants and by the best star chefs in the world. Whether a world-rennowned star chef with 20 Michelin stars and 30 restaurants around the World, who introduced the Taggiasca oil into the palace kitchen of the Prince of Monaco, or top restaurants around the world like London, New York which has been named best restaurant in the World in 2017 or is currently named the world`s best restaurant in Menton Cote d`Azur (France) in 2019, all share the same enthusiasm and use in their recipes of this very special treasure of Nature, the Taggiasca olive oil. By the way, a slight scratch in the throat, when testing the oil, is a good sign of a very high quality oil

Our oil is produced according to the traditional cold pressing and the millstone process of a family business which exercise in the sixth generation the craft of Taggiasca olive processing with passion. The small amount of olive trees, the hard to reach old terraces the steep slopes of Liguria do not allow a mechanical harvest.

They must be laboriously harvest and processed.The special fruity mild taste and the elaborate production makes this rare oil for star chefs to something very special. Whether to pasta, fish, meat, vegetables, salad or just bread, the Taggiasca oil refines almost all dishes.

OUR RIVA OLIVE OIL IS COLD PRESSED BY  TRADITIONAL MECHANICAL MILLSTONE. RIVA- OLIVE OIL STANDS FOR DIFFERENT OLIVE VARIETIES ONLY TAKEN FROM THE ITALIAN RIVIERA. THIS CHOICE OF THE BEST VARIETIES GIVE AN EXCEPTIONALLY MILD AND FRUITY TASTE.
